Error: Cannot access read-only document ... (due to file open read-only).
Error:
Can't access read-only document <filename.xls>.
Cause:
The file is open as read-only. The multi-user editing status cannot be changed or displayed when the file is open as read-only. Microsoft Corporation has confirmed this to be a problem in Excel 7.0.
Solution:
Close the file first, then reopen it. Make sure 'Read Only' is cleared in the 'Open' dialog box.
1) Close the worksheet file.
2) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Open...'.
3) Click on the worksheet to select it.
4) Clear the 'Read Only' check box in the 'Open' dialog box.
5) When the file is opened, select the 'File' menu and select 'Shared Lists...'.
6) Click 'Editing' tab.
7) Select the 'Allow Multi-User Editing' check box.
